Autorentext
Dr. Sharmin Jahan graduated with distinction from Dhaka Medical College in 2000. She completed her fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in 2008. In 2014, she obtained her MD in Endocrinology and Metabolism and received the Prime Minister Gold Medal for securing the highest marks among all subjects in the Faculty of Medicine. Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Endocrinology at BSMMU, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Jahan has presented various original works and endocrine-related papers at conferences both domestically and internationally. She has published approximately 80 original articles in esteemed international journals and a significant number in national papers. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in "Endocrine Hypertension" at Monash University, Melbourne, with a fully funded scholarship under Prof. Peter Fuller and Dr. Jun Yang. She runs a world class Endocrine Hypertension Clinic at her institute and have managed a large number of patients within a last few years. She is the principal investigator in research projects on pituitary disorders, particularly Cushing's disease, growth and pubertal disorders, as well as adrenal diseases including endocrine hypertension at her institute. Additionally, she is a co-investigator in studies on gestational diabetes mellitus (DM) and diabetes mellitus in young individuals (under 30 years) at BSMMU. In 2018 Dr. Jahan completed short-term training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, under Prof. William F. Young, Chair of the Division of Endocrinology, with an emphasis on pituitary, adrenal, and gonadal disorders.
