Written in an engaging style for undergraduate students and general readers, Environmental Justice as Environmental Ethics: An Introduction is a new kind of primer to the study of moral problems and the natural world. It takes as its starting point the increasing awareness among researchers, activists, and others that the key ethical issues related to the use of the environment are questions of justice. It then provides a framework for systematically understanding environmental justice, exploring sustainable development, consumption, the distribution of natural resources, environmental racism, ecofeminism, and the anti-toxic movement, among other issues. The book reaches beyond the usual concerns of moral theory to engage with environmental issues where most readers find them on the ground. The result is a new kind of introduction to environmental ethicsforegrounding the importance of environmental justice and engaging students by illuminating those topics they find the most compelling, important, and relevant to their daily lives.
